Simple and Easy

Share

The difference between “simple” and “easy” (As I use them)…

Simple – when a choice is obvious.  The opposite of complicated.  Example:  I can continue to drink alcohol in excess and it will ruin my life, or I can stop drinking alcohol in its entirety and my life will get better in almost every way.  Simple vs. complicated describes the level of rational thought required to know which thing or route to pick.

Easy – when an accomplishment or task can be completed with little effort.  The opposite of difficult.  Example:  Stopping my alcohol intake was not easy.  Every day it was more and more difficult not to take a drink; to refrain required extreme effort.  Easy vs. difficult describes the level of effort required to succeed in an undertaking, particularly over a period of time.

So, you may have a choice in life that is simple to choose, but not easy to accomplish…like the example above.
